Guest Posts for 2013: #SoWrong
In 2013, I asked some of my blogging buddies to share their most embarrassing moments from which they learned…something.
I’m kicking things off on December 20, 2012 by sharing my own tale of horror and humiliation.
I can hear y’all now.
You’re all: Omigosh, she’s probably recycling something.
Like remember the time she didn’t back-up her computer?
Or remember the time she fell down the stairs?
Or remember the time she went dancing alone and got all dizzy?
Or remember the time she got into a confrontation in an elevator?
Or remember the time she wore her son’s pants all day?
Or the time she bought meat off a truck?
Yeah.
But this one is worse.
Here’s the deliciously tasty line-up of awesome-sauciness:
January 7: Renée Schuls-Jacobson • “Fifty Shades of Humiliation Featuring a Guy in a Gray Suit” @rasjacobson
Jan 11 – Daniel Friedland • author of Down Aisle Ten @danielfriedland “Lessons From a New York Vagrant”
Feb 8 – Tori Nelson of The Ramblings • @toristoptalking “Romancing the Throne”
Feb 15 – Jules of Go Jules Go • @juliedavidoski “I Love You, But I’m Not In Love With You.“
March 15 – Peg of Pegoleg • “True Crime”

May 17 – Misty of Misty’s Laws • “To Bra or Not To Bra”

NOTE: If you would like to share a humiliating moment on your own blog, or if you have already written about one, send the link here! It’s nice to commiserate with others who have survived embarrassment and lived to tell about it.
Ha! I’m committed now! The thing about ritual humiliation, or hopelessness, is that its fairly easy to get the sympathy vote. When I wrote about what a useless DIY assistant I was in the post you linked to above, was it my skilled and efficient husband who reaped the commiserations? No, it was the Queen Bodger, me. There’s a lesson there somewhere, but probably not one we should be learning 😉
Heh heh! I just linked to whatever was up when I wrote this piece.
But that was a dandy! Loved it!
Do you think the blogosphere is ready, Renzzz?
I do. I think we could all use a little more laughter.
Well, at least I’m glad you didn’t just do a recycled post where you just link to all your favorite embarassing moment posts!! Oh, wait . . . (and it sounds like YOU could do the entire year yourself, my dear! Ouch).
And, um . . . didn’t I sign up for May? I could have sworn that happened. Maybe I just dreamed it. How embarassing . . . 😉
You probably DID sign up, Misty! And then I lost the original sheet of paper, so I had to cobble something together. I’d love to have you as a 13th guest. Would you still like May? We’ll getcha in there!
Oh, lady. I don’t know if I can do a 12,000 word post about embarrassing moments and just title it “All Life”. Sounds like a fun series. Great blogger line up!
I think we all need a little more laughter right now. If you’ve got any embarrassing moments, feel free to link up here! 😉
There are so many to choose from and they just keep on coming! Hahaha! Thanks for the shout!
Same for me. This teacher may have retired, but I will always be a twit. LOL! Can’t wait to see what silliness you produce by June!
Well, Misty, that makes me feel better. I saw my name down for May, yet I could have sworn I’d been booked for February. I put it down to early onset Alzheimers on my part, when in fact we should be blaming our dear host. Yup, that’s you, Renée 😉
Oy. I’m already embarrassing myself! I’m glad that I have so many FLEXIBLE, forgiving blogging buddies.
😉
Grateful I’ll have an entire year of embarrassing moments to choose from before I get to report on one – fun for me! Thanks for including me in this great bunch!
Can’t wait for you to post, Mary! You always have so many wonderful stories!
Yeah, it looks like you could cover the whole year yourself.
I hope you know how much of a challenge this is going to be for me. I never do anything embarrassing. (a crappy memory is the only positive thing about having early-onset dementia)
Pego: Remember, my blog used to be called “Teachers & Twits.” I wasn’t kidding. I have every confidence that you will be able to pull something off. Like, remember the time you didn’t send me one of those cool felted pins that you made and I sent my uncle to your house and you hit him with your broom? 😉
I am glad I have some time for this. It’s gonna be goo-ood.
Kiran
I have every faith you will write something fabulous.
The question is how are we going to wait so long? It’s like…a lifetime away. Maybe start keeping a list. 😉
Whoa…you’re organized. I have a date and everything. Which is great…loads of time to figure out which of the many “life burb” moments to share with you lot. Talk about a challenge.
Baby, if you didn’t have that cruise, you would have had a date much earlier. If I don’t create a schedule on the blog, I’m in trouble — as you can see from the comments. I don’t know where those little scraps of paper go. 😉
Babe, you keep thinking I’m going on a cruise. Nothing could get me on one of those things. I’ve done the sailing bit. 🙂
But I do plan on doing some cruising…of hot Italian men. 😉
I was just being vague, but if you’d like me to tell the world: Blogdramedy will be cruising for Italian men! Va bene!
looking forward to this!
Groovy Idea. Xx
Kim! Crap! I should have asked you to participate! Dang it. The problem is I follow too many fabulous bloggers! I bet you would have had a fabulous story, too. Poop.
Yeah. Uh. (ahem)
Nothing embarrassing ever happens to me.
Sooooo…..
Can I steal Peg’s?
Steal Peg’s leg? Oh, that would be embarrassing!
I am looking forward to this series! Embarrassing moments can be excellent teachers. 🙂
Exactly! (They are twit moments! Shhh! Don’t tell!) And you are right. Our greatest lessons come from our goofs. And boy have I made some doozies! Oy.
