Candle 8: #Hanukkah Hoopla
Well, it’s the last night, and Monica Gebell of Aprons and Blazers writes about “Light.” Ahhhhh.

Thank you for sharing your story and the comments of your colleagues. I retired from teaching music nearly eight years ago for many of the reasons teachers are leaving today… I continue to substitute because I love children, love helping them to learn and grow, love what music brings to them and their lives…and I often feel that I should be doing more to make their lives better, that somehow music is not enough–even though I know this not true. Thank you for reminding me that art keeps and tells the stories, that art always has the last word, that art endures and has the power to transform lives lived amidst hatred, bigotry, even war. Shalom

Dalta. I’ve forwarded you wonderful and very thoughtful comment to Monica, via Facebook. I’ve had lots of trouble with her blog over the years. So frustrating when a comment is eaten! I’m so glad you are enjoying your substituting. I keep thinking that maybe I should go back to the classroom, but — really – I think it’s time for me to try something new, which is equally scary because I don’t exactly know what that is.
